Using Marine Spatial Planning (MSP), the legal and regulatory framework for the management of the marine and coastal zone in Benin is evaluated, analyzed and improved
Producing a State of the Marine Environment (SoME) report of Benin
Identifying two Ecologically or Biologically Significant Areas (EBSAs)
Ensuring governance, capacity building and communication

In addition to the Mami Wata implementing partners – GRID-Arendal and the Abidjan Convention (ABC) Secretariat – several collaborative institutions will play a key role in the project implementation. These include:

All national and public institutions involved in the management of Benin’s marine ecosystems and oceans;
Report of the Thirteenth Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for Cooperation in the Protection, Management and Development of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Areas of the Atlantic Coast of West, Central and Southern African Region
As part of the implementation of the Integrated Marine and Coastal Zone Management project (GIZMaC), the State of the Marine Environment (SoME) was assessed in Benin.
