Components / Outcomes

  • Using Marine Spatial Planning (MSP), the legal and regulatory framework for the management of the marine and coastal zone in Benin is evaluated, analyzed and improved
  • Producing a State of the Marine Environment (SoME) report of Benin
  • Identifying two Ecologically or Biologically Significant Areas (EBSAs)
  • Ensuring governance, capacity building and communication

Partners

In addition to the Mami Wata implementing partners – GRID-Arendal and the Abidjan Convention (ABC) Secretariat – several collaborative institutions will play a key role in the project implementation. These include:

  • Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development
  • Ministry of Planning and Development
  • Ministry of Finance and Economy
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation
  • Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries
  • All national and public institutions involved in the management of Benin’s marine ecosystems and oceans;
  • Structures involved in monitoring the SDGs
